Women ‘kicked out’ from gym after ‘disgusting’ workout video

Two fitness influencers who shared a video mocking a man working out in their gym have been “kicked out,” it has been claimed.

The women, who go by the handles @fit.berna and @fitmitdebbs, were widely criticized after uploading a video titled, “Copying the weird man in the corner of the gym,” in November.

In the clip, the pair mimicked the man’s movements while falling over in hysterical laughter – a detail many argued was “inappropriate” and an act of “bullying.”

Both Berna and Debbs immediately went underground amid the backlash, making their Instagram and TikTok accounts private.

While the pair have since re-emerged online without addressing the controversy, one social media user has just given an update, claiming the German fitness fanatics have been banned by their gym.

Noah Bermudez, who was one of many who publicly called out the original clip, said he’d been contacted by a personal trainer at the gym Berna and Debbs used, who made the revelation.

“The good news is, this guy sent me a DM and his colleague who is a manager of the gym has kicked them out,” Noah claimed.

He also thanked Noah for bringing the incident to the gym’s attention, adding “these kinds of videos are not to be tolerated”.

Noah also revealed he’d been contacted by Debbs, sharing a screenshot of a message he received telling him to “take down” his initial video.

In it, she claimed there had been a “misunderstanding”, suggesting she and Berna weren’t making fun of the man working out but were instead “playfully copying his workout.”

“Since we were facing each other, we found it amusing,” she wrote, as per the screenshot.

“It was never meant to mock or make fun of him.

“We followed his routine and laughed while doing it, unfortunately many misunderstood the video so we took it down …”

Debbs went on to stress that “everything is being twisted”, adding that both her and Berna were “sorry” for the way the video was perceived.

“We’re willing to make a statement explaining our intent. We do not support bullying. Bullying is terrible,” the message concluded.

News.com.au has contacted both Berna and Debbs for further comment.

Many have pointed out the two women haven’t publicly apologized for the video, which showed the pair in hysterics as they mimicked the man’s movements, who was working out with his back turned to them.

At one stage they point at the man, who was clueless as to what was happening behind him, and laugh hysterically, while later on in the short video, they collapse in a heap as they re-enact him lunging.

Outraged internet users widely criticized the women, calling them out for “making fun” of an innocent gymgoer, arguing it was a “disgusting” display for attention.

“Such gross behavior from grown women. Gag,” one wrote at the time.

“It’s people like that, that make the gym a scary, unachievable place for others,” another noted.

As one raged: “They are trying their best. I have no idea why they think this is so hilarious?”

Others argued it was “unacceptable” and “disgusting” behavior, with one bloke claiming the video proves just how wild the world in 2023 has become, stating “attention is oxygen” to the younger generations as a result of social media.

Calling out inappropriate gym behavior has become a viral phenomenon in recent months, with the hashtags #GymCreep and #GymWeirdo clocking up over 100 million views since it emerged, the BBC reported in February.

This figure is likely to have grown tremendously since.

But this recent event proves it’s not just women who face intimation in the gym, though it’s still overwhelmingly females who cop it.
