Virginia mom Brandy Lynn Park charged with baby’s murder after blaming 2-year-old

A Virginia mom who tried to blame her 2-year-old for her baby getting fatally “stuck” in a couch is now facing murder charges more than three years later.

Brandy Lynn Parker allegedly reeked of alcohol in January 2020, when she told cops that “her 2-year-old child fell asleep on top of the infant on the couch” and that the 1-year-old wasn’t breathing, according to local news station WSET.

Lynchburg police arrested Parker Wednesday on charges of felony murder and felony child abuse and neglect, saying that during the “lengthy investigation, detectives determined that reckless disregard of human life contributed to the child’s death.”

Cops tried to revive the baby at the Lynchburg apartment but were unsuccessful.

The 1-year-old was rushed to Lynchburg General Hospital, where medics declared the child dead.

According to the warrants, police smelled the “odor of alcohol” coming from Parker, who they said was the sole caretaker of her two young children at the time of the baby’s death.

The woman allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol the night before. A breath test administered to the mom-of-two showed that she had a blood alcohol level of 0.14.

Parker is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond. She is due back in court on July 10.
