Video shows Washington deputy speed through Oregon Road wildfire

The only way out is through.

Harrowing point-of-view footage captured the moment a Washington state deputy narrowly escaped last month’s deadly wildfire by driving straight “through hell on earth.”

The dramatic scene unfolded Aug. 18 as Spokane County Deputy Brittan Morgan had been advising residents to evacuate the Oregon Road area as the inferno barreled toward them.

He was in the midst of trying to convince one stubborn man to jump in his patrol car when he realized he was running out of time to save himself.

In the chaos, Morgan neglected to turn off his bodycam, offering the chance to see his determination to escape the “extraordinarily fast-moving and devastating wildfire,” the department said in a Thursday Facebook post that included the dramatic video.

“You’re not getting me today motherf–ker!” Morgan can be heard screaming as he desperately follows his fellow deputy’s flashing lights through the thick smoke.

“Eat my f–king hairy a–, fire!”

Through the patrol car windshield, flames and sparks can be seen licking Morgan’s speeding patrol car.

The bright yellow flames illuminated Morgan’s path as they incinerated bushes and crawled up trees along the heavily wooded road.

“I don’t wanna f—ing die in this!” Morgan yelled in the censored video.

In one heartstopping moment, both Morgan and his partner stopped their cars for an unknown reason before making the final push to the safety of the woods not yet touched by flames.

“Holy, f–k, that was f–king scary,” Morgan said.

The sheriff’s office acknowledged that Morgan had no idea the camera was still rolling, but wanted to share the deputy’s determination to escape the terrifying moment.

Despite being rattled by the near-death experience, the deputy immediately began directing people away from the inferno, which was still moving at a frightening pace.

He turned multiple people back to safety — shrieking at a few of them who didn’t understand how serious the fire was.

“It’s headed right for us, man, I was just there,” Morgan shouted to one man who insisted he could pass through.

“Unless you want to die!”

Morgan’s aggressive tone instantly switched when he noticed another driver pull up next to his patrol car — the man who refused to get in the police vehicle before the deputy plowed through the fire.

Morgan repeatedly expressed his gratitude that the stranger survived the apocalyptic inferno.

“This is only one story of bravery and courage from the Oregon Road Fire,” the Spokane sheriff’s office said.

One person died in the fire, which destroyed at least 120 homes and several more outbuildings as it ripped through 10,817 acres, though officials anticipate the tallies to increase as they continue their assessments.

A second person died in another fire in the nearby city of Medical Lake on the same day. The so-called Gray Fire burned an estimated 10,085 acres and destroyed more than 200 homes.
