Video shows helicopter rescue after a hiker falls off a 16-foot cliff

A woman has been pulled to safety after she fell 16 feet from a beachfront cliff onto rocks at a secluded hiking spot.

Paramedics rushed to cliff near Paradise Caves at Sunshine Beach in Noosa, Australia following reports a woman aged in her 30s had fallen about 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics had to climb down to where she had landed after she slipped down the rock face as she was hiking near some caves along the shoreline.

The pilot of the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was to carefully maneuver the aircraft so that the onboard paramedic could be lowered to a narrow strip of rocks close to the caves.

The rescue chopper crew was then able to winch the woman in a careful hoisting operation from the slippery rocks.

A friend of the woman who was with her at the time initially raised the alarm and stayed with her until emergency services arrived.

She was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where she is in a stable condition.

QAS said she suffered injuries to her head, face and shoulders.
