UK woman awoke at party to find host’s elderly dad molesting her

A British woman has recalled her horror at crashing in bed with a hot young man at a house party — then waking to find the host’s “vile” 72-year-old dad sexually abusing her.

“I was so scared and felt so violated,” Nikitta Byrne, 26, said of her abuse that saw drugged-up senior Huw Thomas jailed for two years.

”He was an old man and my friend’s dad. I felt safe in that house and he took advantage.”

The young mom told SWNS that she’d chatted to Thomas earlier in the night at the 2020 bash in his ”large house with grand pictures on the wall” in a suburb of Cardiff, Wales.

Despite finding the elderly homeowner intoxicated from taking cocaine and cannabis, the student enjoyed the “good party” and its “good vibes,” she said.

“Up until everything happened, I probably would have come away with a lovely memory,” she said.

In the early hours, Byrne headed to a guest room with “a young man I actually fancied.”

She awoke around three hours later to find herself stripped naked — and with the 72-year-old pervert in between her legs, abusing her.

“I woke up quite sore, his beard woke me up because it was quite rough,” she recalled of the stubble-faced senior.

Thomas only fled when Byrne woke the younger man who was still in bed beside her. Initially, she “felt really dazed” and “didn’t realize the seriousness of what had just happened,” she said.

“I fell back to sleep and when I woke up I … knew I had to get out of there. I felt so unsafe.

“My friends had no idea what had happened, but as soon as I got in the car I broke down in tears.”

She rang the police once home with her mom, who told her not to wash off the evidence. She then went to a clinic for tests.

Her elderly abuser “was arrested the same day” — and claimed that everything had been consensual, she said.

“His account of events is mad … it was ridiculous,” she said.

“He said I’d called him over and patted on the bed” — even though she was “with a young man I actually fancied already.”

Thomas pleaded not guilty to sexual assault and assault by penetration.

However, he was found guilty of both charges after a five-day trial in Cardiff Crown Court and in November sentenced to two years in prison. He was also put on a UK sex offender registry for 10 years.

”I knew justice would prevail; his story was so ridiculous,” said Byrne, who waived her right to anonymity to speak about the case.

”I’m just trying to move on with my life. I want to help other victims come forward,” she said, calling such work “scary but so worthwhile.”

“Just as much as people helped me through my case, I want to do the same.

“Going through what I’ve been through and being so resilient I think I could help advise someone else, without going down a dark path,” she said.

“What happened to spurred me on to get out there and help other people.”
