Trump supporter Craig Robertson, killed by FBI, previously confronted local police officer with AR-15: report

The Utah man who was fatally shot during an FBI raid last week after he threatened to kill President Biden had previously confronted two internet workers and local police with a firearm, according to a report.

Craig Robertson allegedly pointed a gun at a pair of Google Fiber workers who went into his backyard to reach a utility pole after he didn’t answer the door in 2018, according to police records obtained by the Salt Lake Tribune.

The staunch Trump supporter also answered the door with an AR-15 rifle in his hand after local police in the city of Provo responded to the incident, the newspaper reported.

He was not charged or arrested in the incident and denied pointing the weapon at the workers.

Revelations about the 75-year-old’s past encounter with police came almost a week after he was allegedly armed when the feds knocked on his door to arrest him and search his home just hours before Biden was set to arrive in the state, according to a criminal complaint.

He was shot and killed by agents after he allegedly pointed a weapon at them.

Days before the deadly encounter, he allegedly wrote online that he heard Biden was coming to Utah so he was looking for his camouflage hunting suit and “cleaning the dust off the M24 sniper rifle.”

The newly released police report from August 2018 states the Google Fiber workers knocked on Robertson’s door but went to his backyard to connect a neighbor’s internet after he didn’t answer.

Robertson quickly confronted the two workers after he left his house through his backdoor while waving a handgun, the report alleges. One of the workers told Provo police that Robertson pointed the weapon at them as he brandished it and told them to leave.

After police were called by the workers, Robertson answered his door with an AR-15 in hand, “which triggered a bit of a stand off,” the newspaper reported, citing the report.

At first, Robertson refused to put the gun down when ordered. But he eventually calmed down and complied.

Robertson told cops he “was angry that the workers had left the gate open, which could lead to his dog getting out,” and claimed he thought the men were trespassing because their van didn’t have a company logo, according to the report.

He also denied the worker’s claim that he pointed or waved the gun around, but “he was holding it against his body, muzzle down in a ready position,” the report states.

Both police and the prosecutors back in 2018 believed Robertson didn’t break the law even if he didn’t show the best judgment, the Tribune reported.

Provo police reportedly said they were told about the early morning FBI raid the day before it happened, but did not help in serving the warrant.

Before he was shot and killed, Robertson allegedly pointed a .357 Magnum at them, the FBI said in a statement, according to the Deseret News.

Robertson was facing counts of interstate threats, a threat against the president and influencing, impeding and retaliating against federal law enforcement officers by threat.

He also threatened Vice President Kamala Harris, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other high-profile Democrats, according to the criminal complaint.

The fatal shooting is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division.
