Trump admits that being booked in jail was a ‘terrible experience’

Former President Donald Trump admitted that being booked at Georgia’s notorious Fulton County Jail was a “terrible experience” – and claimed he had “never heard the word mug shot” until his was taken.

Trump became the first current or former US president to get his mug shot snapped when he was booked Thursday night on charges of unlawfully trying to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.

When asked later by Newsmax host Greg Kelly what it was like inside the filthy jail, the 77-year-old replied: “Terrible experience.”

He added: “I came in, I was treated very nicely — but it is what it is. I took a mug shot. I had never heard the word mug shot. They didn’t teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance.”

Trump, who graduated from the Pennsylvania school in 1968, also called his booking “a very sad experience” and a “very sad day for our country.

“I went through an experience that I never thought I’d have to go through, but then I’ve gone through the same experience three other times,” he said on “Greg Kelly Reports.”

“In my whole life, I didn’t know anything about indictments. And now I’ve been indicted, like, four times,” continued Trump, the overwhelming GOP front-runner in the 2024 presidential election.

“It’s just like one thing after the next. What they want to do is they want to try and wear you out which they would never do … Just an absolute horrible thing that they’re doing,” he said.

“And I’ve never seen anything like it. This is Third World country,” Trump added.

The 45th president spent about 20 minutes at the crumbling correctional facility following his grand jury indictment on Aug. 14 on 13 counts, including racketeering, conspiracy, false statements and asking a public official to violate their oath of office.

He was released on $200,000 bond and agreed to an order limiting his ability to post on social media about witnesses or co-defendants in the case, which involves 18 other allies and supporters, including attorneys Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and Kenneth Chesebro.

Trump later shared his steely-eyed, frowning mug on X – the first time he has posted on the site formerly known as Twitter since two days after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

Along with the booking photo, which immediately went viral and spawned countless memes, he added a link to his 2024 presidential campaign website.

Trump captioned the image: “Election interference” and “Never surrender!”

He also was interviewed on Fox News Digital, where he said getting his mug shot taken was “not a comfortable feeling – especially when you’ve done nothing wrong.

“They insisted on a mug shot and I agreed to do that,” he added.

Earlier this month, Trump attorney Alina Habba said the decision to snap his mug shot was “a bit of an ego trip” on the part of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

All 19 defendants are charged with violating the Peach State’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, a version of a statute Giuliani used as a federal prosecutor in the 1980s to bring down members of the mob.

Trump firmly insists they “did nothing wrong at all.”

The Georgia indictment is the fourth brought against him so far this year, following federal cases over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Washington, DC, and his alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg also indicted Trump for allegedly falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.
