Tiger mauls Russian fisherman after smashing through window

A Siberian tiger smashed through the window of a Russian house and mauled a 19-year-old man before his cousin shot the wild beast in the shocking attack.

Sergey Kyalundzyuga was on a fishing trip with his cousin and another man in eastern Russia, where a lack of food has left growing numbers of tigers famished, East2West News reported Wednesday.

“They heard a noise outside. Sergey went to the window and then a male tiger flew into it, breaking the glass with his head,” a source told the outlet.

The big cat mauled Kyalundzyuga, leaving him with severe injuries to the head, neck and arm before his cousin Alexander killed the animal, according to the outlet.

Kyalundzyuga, who reportedly lost a lot of blood in the savage attack, was flown by chopper to a hospital in Khabarovsk, where he remains in intensive care after surgery.

Alexander suffered less severe wounds in the incident. No similar cases have been reported previously.

A graphic video shows the dead tiger sprawled on the floor.

“It saw movement [of the curtain] and immediately pounced to attack the window. And in a split second he was inside. One second,” a rescuer said.

Tiger expert Sergey Aramilev said experts examined the dead tiger for clues about the unusual behavior.

“The analysis will also help to determine the reasons for the attack,” he said. “The tiger looks emaciated.  This could be the reason for the attack on the man.”

In another horrific incident, footage shows the gruesome aftermath of another attack by a tiger – this time on Alexander Poznyak, 56, of Sakhalin, in the Sovetsko-Gavansky district, East2West reported.

The victim, a fur trader, was reportedly killed in the incident after he tried to defend himself using a knife because he had no time to take out his gun.
