‘The smell is horrendous:’ Passenger appalled after couple changes dirty diaper at airplane seat

This couple caused a stink.

As if there weren’t enough reasons to bring sanitary wipes on a plane: Two parents have been slammed after they were spotted changing their baby’s dirty diaper at their seats on board a Delta flight.

A peeved passenger detailed the odiferous incident in a Reddit post blowing up online.

“The people in the row in front of me are changing a poopy diaper in their seats,” the appalled woman wrote painting a putrid picture for readers. “Anyone ever experienced this? The smell is horrendous.”

She added: “There’s no reason not to do this in the bathroom.”

In fact, the stench was so offensive that said passenger reportedly “moved back a couple rows to an empty seat,” she added in the comments.

Fortunately, a flight attendant came to the rescue shortly thereafter.

“The FA noticed I had moved and asked why so I explained,” the traveler recalled. “She was mortified and thanked me for telling her.”

“She told the father it was unsanitary and he needed to do that in the bathroom and thankfully he just said ok and didn’t throw a fit,” she further stated.

Readers empathized with the woman’s foul flight plight.

“Thank you for the reminder to bring sanitizing wipes on all flights!” wrote one, while another declared, “I do not get on an airplane without those. As soon as I sit down, I disinfect everything. Every time.”

“That family is imposing on far more people,” fumed a third. “It’s olfactory, socially, and hygienically inappropriate to change a baby at the seat.”

An alleged crewmember also weighed in on the “flight change,” writing: ” We will gladly tell that family that almost all lavs have a changing table, and they NEED to go use it right now. Changing diapers at your seats is totally unacceptable.”

Unfortunately, the unsanitary practice is apparently more commonplace than many would like to believe. One Redditor shared their own horror story involving a couple treating their airplane seats like a changing station in the sky.

They explained how a mother seated a row ahead of them was changing a diaper that reeked so badly they could smell it through a mask coated with Vicks VapoRub.

“The sad thing was [that the] baby was obviously having intestinal problems as mum was changing the diaper once an hour,” they lamented. “After a while I heard someone in the cabin yell out where the f–k is the father, who kept fing off each time.”
