‘Tan mom’ Patricia Krentcil running for US Senate in Florida

“Tan Mom” goes to Washington — or so she hopes.

Patricia Krentcil, who went viral in 2012 for taking her 5-year-old daughter into a New Jersey tanning salon, plans to run for the Senate in Florida, TMZ first reported.

The former Nutley resident, who now lives in Boca Raton, has filed paperwork to challenge incumbent GOP Senator Rick Scott in the 2024 senate elections, according to a statement of candidacy filed with the Federal Elections Committee on Tuesday.

She has filed to run as a Republican.

“I know that I am different. And I have suffered for it. But us all being different is what makes this country so amazing and unique,” she told TMZ.

Krentcil’s Senate bid comes as she stars in a TV-docuseries “Tan to 10,” which follows her attempts to quit tanning and change her life. She named her producers Gregg Maliff and Adam Barta as her campaign managers.

The infamous tanner told the outlet that she has formed a bond with Florida’s embattled LGBTQ+ community during the “extreme life makeover” and wants to use those connections to spark change in Washington.

Krentcil, now 55, was charged with child endangerment in 2012 for allegedly exposing her daughter Anna to artificial UV rays in a Nutley salon.

A grand jury ultimately declined to indict her in 2013 and she was able to keep custody of her daughter.

However, the single mother of five told Insider last year the incident has plagued her “every day for the past 10 years,” leaving her in dire financial straits and banned from local tanning salons.

In addition to her reality series, Krentcil has also appeared several times on “The Howard Stern Show” and released a number of music videos.

“I changed my whole attitude on life. I’ve turned my life around,” Krentcil said. “I don’t get disrespected anymore. I don’t party or do any crazy things.”

She checked herself into Palm Beach, Florida rehab in 2013 for alcohol abuse.

In 2019, Krentcil was hospitalized for pneumonia and was placed in a medically induced coma. She had suffered cardiac arrest and also was diagnosed with pancreatitis and an infection that spread to her lungs.

The heavy smoker told The Post at the time that “my whole body died — I was proclaimed dead. It was so sad.”
