Suspect nabbed in deadly shooting on Dallas train

The suspect sought in the deadly weekend shooting on a Dallas train has been nabbed, authorities said Monday.

The unidentified person was arrested on murder and assault charges over the bloodshed that erupted during an argument and left a man dead and two people injured.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police caught the suspect and recovered the firearm used in Sunday’s attack, DART assistant vice president Gordon Shattles told NBC News.

The shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. during a fight between two passengers on a northbound Green Line train near Hatcher Station.

One of the people involved in the dispute produced a gun and opened fire, leaving two passengers wounded.

Both victims were taken to Baylor Hospital, where one of them later died. There was no immediate word on the condition of the surviving victim.

Police said another bystander was treated at the scene for a non-life-threatening shrapnel injury.

Shattles said in a statement Monday that the suspected shooter has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Shattles did not immediately respond to a Post request for comment.

It was not clear whether the people involved in the shooting knew each other or what led to the argument that ultimately escalated to deadly violence.

The DART shooting came on the heels of Saturday’s slaughter at an outlet mall in the Dallas suburb of Allen, which left eight people dead and seven others injured.
