Sunburn blush is summer’s hottest beauty trend — and you don’t have to risk UV damage to give it a spin.
Rather, it’s all about the magic of makeup; skip the Kardashian-style contour and sweep the blush of your choice on the apples of your cheeks and across your nose in a “W” shape, making sure to hit the same points as the sun’s rays would.
The rosy look has been making the rounds on TikTok in a big way recently, and plenty of celebrities are on board as well.
Hailey Bieber — whose 2019 Pop magazine shoot serves as the inspiration for many #SunburnBlush fans on social media — recently shared a TikTok in which she used Make Up For Ever’s Ultra HD Face Essentials Palette ($83) to achieve a summery, sun-kissed flush.
Bieber’s also a fan of Olio E Osso’s Lip & Cheek Tinted Balm ($28).
Addison Rae was another early adopter of the sunburnt blush craze; in a TikTok beauty tutorial posted in early May, the Louisiana native generously applied her Item Beauty Blushin’ Like Cream Blush ($16) not only on her cheese and nose, but also across her forehead.
The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($20) from Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty brand is similarly perfect for tackling the trend; while one drop of the highly pigmented product per cheek is enough for an everyday flush, those seeking a faux burn can easily add more.
And while skipped-the-SPF cheeks pair well with an otherwise fresh face, leave it to Rihanna to prove heavy blush can play well with bold lips and shimmery eyes, too.
