Sevilla vs. Copenhagen Champions League odds, prediction today

It’s been a disastrous season for Sevilla. Normally considered one of the most dangerous tournament teams in Europe, Los Rojiblancos have looked anything but so far in 2022-23. Not only is Sevilla winless in four matches in the Champions League, but it is also currently in 15th place in La Liga and just one point above the relegation zone in Spain. 

Even more concerning is that Sevilla’s underlying metrics suggest it is lucky not to be lower in the table in La Liga. Through 11 matches, Sevilla has tallied 10 points and owns a -7 goal differential, but its expected goal differential sits at -11.1, and it has 8.57 expected points. 

Despite all of that, Sevilla is a -210 favorite in Champions League action on Tuesday. That speaks volumes of the opponent, FC Copenhagen, but there’s also a chance that the price on the Spanish side is being inflated because of name recognition more than anything else. 

It’s an ugly bet — FC Copenhagen has yet to score in the Champions League — but this Sevilla team has been trending in the wrong direction all season and this is a sleepy spot for Los Rojiblancos at home.
