RNC plans to host third GOP primary debate in Miami

Republicans are planning to head south to Miami for their third 2024 primary debate in early November, a Republican National Committee official told The Post.

Florida is home to former President Donald Trump — the frontrunner — and his leading foe in polls, Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Revelations of the third debate taking place in Florida came after a report from The Messenger claimed Trump was prodding the RNC to change its venue, which his campaign vehemently denied.

The third debate will follow the upcoming verbal bout slated for Sept. 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif. moderated by Fox Business.

The RNC held the first debate on Aug. 23 in Milwaukee.

Candidates and rumors previously indicated that the third debate would take place in Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama.

Unlike Wisconsin and California, Florida has consistently tilted red over recent years, though it was once widely considered a purple battleground state.

Trump skipped the first GOP debate and is rumored to pass on the second one as well.

His absence loomed large over the first GOP debate, given his enormous lead in the polls over his rivals.

The 77-year-old former president trounces 44-year-old DeSantis, his closest competitor, by a massive 43.1 percentage points, according to the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of polls.

During the upcoming GOP debate in Simi Valley, the RNC is ratcheting up its prerequisites for candidates to make it to the debate stage.

Aspirants must achieve a 50,000 unique donor threshold — up from 40,000 for the first debate and eke out at least 3% support in select polling, up from 1%.

Criteria for the third debate could get even harder.
