Riley Gaines laughs off protesters who yelled ‘f–k you’ and ‘can’t swim’

Former collegiate swimmer-turned-activist Riley Gaines laughed off a group of foul-mouthed demonstrators protesting her appearance at a Milwaukee event before the GOP presidential debate on Wednesday,

The dozen or so protesters, some holding a large banner that read “Stop Trans Genocide,” repeatedly yelled “F–k you, Riley” on an otherwise quiet city sidewalk. They also chanted “Go home Riley” and “Can’t swim Riley,” a video Gaines posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows.

“Shiver me Timbers, I’m so scared!!!!!!!!” the former University of Kentucky swimmer wrote.

“The only things I’ve found protestors (sic) can say about me is 1) some variation of calling me a bigot 2) calling me ugly 3) telling me I should have just swam faster and trained harder if I wanted to win. But now we’ve unlocked ‘Go away’ and a sign that says ‘bye Riley.’” she added.

Gaines, who tied against controversial trans University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas in the 2022 NCAA Championships, has since advocated against biological men competing in women’s sports.

She is the director of the Riley Gaines Center at the Leadership Institute, which aims to create “courageous leaders to protect women in America,” according to its website.

“If you really think this does anything other than make me chuckle and resort to prayer for them, you would be wrong,” Gaines tweeted, adding, “And I CAN swim.”

Gaines, 24, also joked that the protesters were the “final straw” and made her quit her activism.

“Sike!” she immediately responded. “If you really think this does anything other than make me chuckle and resort to prayer for them, you would be wrong. Trans genocide does not exist. I’m advocating for the bare minimum: privacy, safety, and fairness for women. & I CAN swim.”

Gaines has been outspoken in her belief that biological males’ greater strength and endurance make competition with women unfair.

In April, Gaines was “ambushed and physically hit” by a mob of trans-rights protesters who stormed her speech about protecting women’s sports at San Francisco State.

Earlier this month, she was also targeted at the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame at Texas Woman’s University in Denton by “hostile” demonstrators who gathered in opposition to the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” according to Fox News.

Gaines recently said on Bill Maher’s podcast that Thomas, a biological male, was so well-endowed that she and other female swimmers had to “refrain from looking” while changing in the same locker room.

Some swimmers even changed in the janitor’s closet to avoid Thomas, she said.

“We can’t unsee it. Being in that space with a male, it’s like a bad car wreck,” she told Maher.
