Republican congressman calls on State Bar of Georgia to investigate Fani Willis’ alleged ‘improper sexual relationship’ with Trump prosecutor

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) on Tuesday demanded that the Georgia State Bar initiate an investigation into the alleged “improper sexual relationship” between Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

The Florida Republican argued that reports of “potential criminal acts” that resulted from the alleged secret affair between Willis and Wade — an Atlanta-area private attorney who was tapped by the DA in November 2021 to be the special prosecutor in her election interference case against former President Donald Trump — warrant a probe.

“Reports of an ongoing affair and improper sexual relationship between District Attorney Willis and Special Prosecutor Wade have been widely reported by public media. If true, not only would this be extremely inappropriate for a supervisor and subordinate to have such an intimate relationship, but it would also give rise to possible violations of bias, conflict of interest, and potential kickback,” Mills wrote in a letter to the State Bar of Georgia.

The lawmaker further argues that Wade “does not meet the criteria to prosecute a felony case” and had never prosecuted a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) before being appointed lead prosecutor to Trump’s Georgia RICO case by his “alleged mistress.”

A bombshell motion filed last week by Michael Roman – one of Trump’s co-defendants in Willis’ sprawling election interference case – accused the co-prosecutors of having a “clandestine” relationship and alleged that Wade paid for lavish vacations with the DA to Florida, Napa Valley and the Caribbean, using legal fees he’s been reimbursed for by Fulton County for his work on the former president’s case.

Wade’s reimbursement records, attached in Roman’s filing, also show that the special prosecutor billed Fulton County $4,000 for two eight-hour meetings with White House officials while he worked on the Trump case.

“I am hard-pressed to view this as anything but a direct conflict of interest and politically charged interference, potentially colluding with the Biden White House, with an ongoing investigation against Biden’s leading political opponent for the Oval Office,” Mills wrote.

The lawmaker also claims that Willis used taxpayer money earmarked for clearing a backlog of cases that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic to hire Wade – and pay him “78.57% more than other attorneys appointed to cases.”

“That represents an exorbitant salary for someone who apparently has no experience in litigating RICO cases,” Mills argued. “ Once again, there is a clear and compelling conclusion that can be drawn from this, if proven to be true: Wade was paid more because of his sexual relationship with the DA.”

In a tweet, Mills derided Willis’ alleged “corrupt and unethical practices, conflict of interests, and potential collusion with Joe Biden” and said the state bar investigation should result in her “debarment and dismissal.”

“Georgia, taxpayers, and President Donald Trump deserve more than this corruption circus and kangaroo courts,” he added. “This is a direct assault on justice.”

Roman, a former Trump 2020 campaign official, argues that Willis should be disqualified from the case and the charges against him dropped because of her alleged involvement with Wade.
