Pregnant woman Gabrielle Breaux, unborn baby killed in crash after truck collides with alligator crossing highway

A pregnant woman was killed, along with her unborn baby, after the truck she was riding in collided with an alligator during a horrific rollover crash in the middle of a Texas highway.

Gabrielle Breaux, 33, was seven months pregnant when the truck she was riding in crashed on State Highway 35 near Corpus Christi early Sunday morning, authorities told STexasNews.

Breaux was pronounced dead shortly after. Her unborn baby — as well as the alligator — also died in the crash.

The tragedy unfolded when Breaux’s truck suddenly plowed into the gator as the huge animal was crawling across the highway, the Refugio County Sheriff’s Office said.

The truck, which was also carrying another adult and three kids, rolled into a field just off the roadside, photos from the scene showed.

Another image released by cops showed the dead reptile splayed out across the road.

Breaux and the four others inside the vehicle were rushed to nearby hospitals where she was pronounced dead.

The others were all expected to survive, authorities said.

The relationship between Breaux and the four inside the truck wasn’t immediately clear.

It also wasn’t clear if Breaux was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
