Police ferry dozens of tourists to shore after duck boat stuck on Australia’s Gold Coast

Dozens of passengers have been rescued after a popular tour boat became stuck on the Gold Coast.

Police were called to a boat ramp at Main Beach at about 5:40pm on Wednesday when a Quack’R Duck vessel became stuck on a sand bank near the Sundale Bridge.

The amphibious vehicle could not be dislodged, forcing water police to ferry 24 passengers back to shore at about 6pm.

All passengers were on dry land by 7pm with no injuries, police said.

A Quack’R Duck spokesperson told NCA NewsWire that the newly employed driver had miscalculated the rising tide, leading to it getting bogged.

No passengers were injured and everyone was in good spirits on board according to the spokesperson.

“They understood the driver was new and a lot of boats get stuck out here,” they said.

The boat was left until the tide rose when its owners returned it to shore undamaged.
