Passenger pleads guilty to assaulting flight attendant

An American Airlines passenger has pleaded guilty to assault after attacking two flight attendants, complaining to a third that he was a “s—ty” employee and ordering them to call the captain during a meltdown over the plane’s meal choices.

Robert David Croizat, who was headed to Miami from Barbados on March 8, called a male flight attendant “s—-y” for not addressing him properly while reciting the meal choices, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Post.

Croizat was incensed not only “because he believed (the flight attendant) had been rude to him,” but also “to voice his displeasure that only vegetarian meal options were available in the first-class cabin,” according to court records.

The entitled passenger proceeded to berate the employee, drawing the attention of another flight attendant.

Croizat admitted that he had two drinks and asked the second crew member, “What, you want to call the Captain?”

He “aggressively, demandingly, and loudly ordered the flight attendants to ‘get the Captain out here,’” according to the document.

The flight attendants instructed him to sit down but he refused and continued to ask for the captain.

Croizat then touched a third flight attendant and pushed her twice when she ordered him not to lay hands on her, the complaint states.

He “continued to persist in being belligerent and non-compliant,” according to the crew member, who alerted the captain about the unhinged man and asked for help from another passenger.

But Croizat continued his unruly behavior and pushed a female flight attendant and pinned her against the cockpit door before “a passenger lifted Croizat and placed him in his seat in attempt to restrain him, causing a glass of wine to spill,” according to the document.

The crew later placed a cart between the cabin and the cockpit to prevent the man from reaching the door.

“The Captain called air traffic control to report the incident during the flight, informing air traffic control that there was an attempted breach of the cockpit,” the complaint states.

Croizat was arrested when the flight landed in Miami about 6:50 p.m.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday in Miami federal court to a misdemeanor charge of assault and the initial felony charge of interference with a flight crew was dropped, his attorney Barry Wax told The Daily Beast.

Wax said in a motion that his client — who planned to stay in Miami for five days while visiting his son — complained that the legal proceedings were “financially burdensome” due to the cost of renting Airbnbs.

He asked to be permitted to return home in the meantime but was denied, according to The Daily Beast.

The lawyer told the outlet that the federal complaint made Croizat’s behavior seem more extreme than it was.

Wax described the incident as an “argument,” saying video shot by another passenger shows his client poking a crew member in the shoulder, which he acknowledged was an “unwanted touch” but not an attack.

The lawyer also claimed that Croizat never actually tried to storm the cockpit.
