Odds, English Premier League pick today

Two teams that came close to getting relegated last season meet on Tuesday as Leeds United hosts Everton. Leeds has taken to the new season more favorably, winning seven points from a possible 12. 

Frank Lampard’s Toffees, on the other hand, have notched just two points and have yet to win a match. Everton lost striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin before the season opener and then watched two center-backs, Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina, get injured in Matchweek 1.

Leeds vs. Everton prediction

With Calvert-Lewin on the sidelines, Everton has played most of the season without an out-and-out striker, but that should change on Tuesday as Neal Maupay was brought in from Brighton to give the attack a focal point and put every player in his best position. Demarai Gray, Dwight McNeil and Anthony Gordon all do their strongest work out wide, and that’s where they’ll be Tuesday. 

Leeds United is known for its all-action pressing and making life difficult when their opponent is on the ball. Everton is not the type of team that will play into that style, though, as the Toffees prefer to sit in a low block and wait to counter. That could prove difficult for Leeds, which struggles to break teams down when they’re sitting deep. 

Entering the season, these two teams were viewed as equals. Four matches later, the market has bought into Leeds’ hot start and remains highly skeptical of Everton. Buy low on the Toffees.
