Obese flyer calls out body shamers over seatbelt extender request

A plus-sized fashion influencer is claiming she was cyberbullied over a video that detailed her struggle to strap in while boarding a recent Delta flight.

The ticked-off TikToker, who goes by Samyra, ran into trouble after sharing a POV clip of the murmur-inducing moment with her 1.6 million followers.

The video, which quickly went viral, shows the troubled traveler requesting a seatbelt extender, a common solution for airline passengers of size.

“Do y’all see how short that belt was,” she captioned her clip.

The vexed voyager found herself inundated with negative comments — some of them insisting that the humiliating incident was “a sign” that Samyra needed to make a change.

“The belt is not the problem,” snarked one follower.

In response to the torrent of often abusive comments Samyra quickly posted another clip — this time calling out the people mocking her size.

Specifically, she ranted regarding how many were concerned about “the delivery of my request rather than the delivery of my belt extender.”

“To all of you who are so concerned about my health in the comments. You should also be concerned about my health and safety on an aircraft with a belt extender,” Samyra added.

And while the deluge of negativity was undeniable, many also rushed to her defense in the original video, blasting critics of the influencer’s approach.

“You seem SO sweet. your energy shows!! i don’t know why these comments are so negative. i’m sorry!!” one wrote.

“This woman has nothing to apologize for. She was polite and patient,” added another.

“Literally why is everyone being mean,” a perplexed follower asked.

“I will sit and ask with no shame!! If my neighbor can order liquor the whole trip I can at least get a belt extender,” one frequent flier commented.

This isn’t the first time a plus-size influencer came down hard on Delta for having seatbelts that are too constricting.

Southwest Airlines recently enacted a policy that allows overweight customers the chance to have a complimentary second seat — should they need the room.
