NY scenic spots rank among top makeout locations in US

Ever since the invention of the car, lovers have been taking to the back seat for a little romantic one-on-one time — often driving to a favorite scenic spot to set the mood.

If you’re on a date and just getting to know the person you hope to get a little closer to, choosing the right locale is of utmost importance, says Amber Brooks, Editor-in-Chief at DatingNews.com.

“You can’t just drive to a parking lot and expect your date to swoon,” the expert chided.

“Planning is everything when it comes to successful dates,” she said. “Go find a vista, pack a picnic, put on some tunes, and make a memory together.”

The site surveyed 3,000 Americans, asking them to kiss and tell the public about their favorite lover’s lanes — with three Empire State locales making the steamy list.

The Adirondacks came in at number 39, Niagara Falls at number 77 and Bear Mountain at number 141.

Still, nothing New York had to offer was able to beat the the likes of Hawaii’s Hana Highway — the popular Maui scenic route rang in at number one on the list.

The winding 64.4-mile-long drive connecting the towns of Hana and Kauai is filled with places to pull over and enjoy breathtaking views — assuming you come up for air in between kisses.

There’s even a waterfall plunge point you can splash around in to cool down, should things get hot and heavy.

Meanwhile, back on the mainland, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee was crowned the second best smooching spot.

The iconic “smoky” mist that rises from the mountain tops sets the mood for a steamy car sesh.

Meanwhile, Colorado’s famous Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs was ranked the third most make-out worthy destination.

The 19-mile road to the summit offers couples plenty of pull over spots, whether it be a romantic picnic at Crowe Gulch or fishing at the Crystal Creek Reservoir.eee

“The make-out spot is a time-honored part of dating culture, immortalized in film, song, and story,” the researchers wrote.

“One thing is certain: American couples love getting romantic in secluded, scenic spots across the country.”
