Mom of 4 slams ‘oblivious’ AOC’s sharing inflation ‘propaganda’ clip

A mother of four struggling to keep money in the bank accused lawmakers of being “oblivious” to how much high inflation is affecting families across the country.

Amber Bergeron of Louisiana pointed her ire at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in particular on Friday for sharing a clip declaring that inflation is just “propaganda” — seemingly refuting a recent study revealing that 61% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

“I’m just wondering how she thinks it’s propaganda. I mean, has she checked her electric bill? Has she looked at the cost of groceries compared to last year?” Bergeron said on “Fox & Friends First.

“If you get on her Walmart app, she can take a look and see the difference. I’m wondering what her budget is that that’s not something that she’s concerned about. It’s obviously not worrying in her household. it’s not something she’s having to worry about. I’m wondering how people can be so oblivious.”

The Bronx congresswoman shared a video to her Instagram story Thursday from New Zealand’s left-wing Aotearoa Liberation League in which a woman claimed the “propaganda” surrounding inflation was designed to protect “greedy shareholders,” who are truly to blame for global rising costs.

The White House has repeatedly touted its “Bidenomics” plan to combat soaring prices, but Bergeron said she has seen little change in her daily dues.

Bergeron’s electric bills, medical costs and insurance premiums are just the latest in a string of necessities that she’s noticed skyrocket in price recently, she said.

Though they are not scrimping to survive week-to-week, the Bergeron family is not able to put enough away for a rainy day fund — a calamity they faced when their truck broke down this week.

“Usually if you come into an issue and you don’t have the money in your reserves, you would go and you would get a loan,” the mother said. “But interest rates are so high right now, it’s making the monthly notes impossible.”

To make up for the savings deficit, her husband is picking up as many extra work hours as he can — which means he’s spending less time with his young family.

When asked about the overall situation, Bergeron said it was looking “not too good.”

“And I know this is something that’s typical for a lot of Americans right now, having to worry about these things,” she said.

On Friday, President Biden bragged that monthly employment data showing about 187,000 new jobs were created in August, but ignored questions about data showing that more than six out of 10 Americans struggled to make ends meet in July.

The shocking survey showed a 59% increase compared to the same month last year and showed that Americans were spending more on everything from food to prescriptions to entertainment.

The survey dovetails with newly released data from the federal government Thursday which showed that the Personal Consumption Expenditures index, a key inflation measure closely watched by the Fed, rose 0.2% from the previous month.
