Man allegedly broke into ex-lover’s home and stabbed her ex-husband

A Sydney, Australia man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly breaking into his former lover‘s home and stabbing her ex-husband.

Fraser Alexander Thomson, 41, was charged with five counts of stalking his on-and-off-again girlfriend Lauren Salamakis, 35, and breaching a domestic Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) on Tuesday.

Thomson was arrested after allegedly breaking into Salamakis’ Kellyville home and stabbing her ex-husband Paul Salamakis, 39, who was sleeping on the sofa.

The incident allegedly occurred at 2:30 a.m., the Daily Telegraph reports.

Thomson had been arrested two weeks prior for allegedly visiting the same woman‘s home on August 8, despite a court order prohibiting him from approaching her.

Thomson spent a week in remand until he was granted bail on August 13 by a magistrate.

On the day of the incident, Thomson allegedly turned up unannounced at Lauren Salamakis’ home and startled Paul Salamakis, who had been staying there.

CCTV footage from a nearby house reportedly captured a figure sneaking around with a black backpack before Thompson allegedly forced his way into the home.

Detective Superintendent Darrin Batchelor confirmed the existence of a current AVO preventing Thomson from being near the house.

“We will be alleging that person was going to the house to do harm,” he said via The Daily Telegraph.

Paul Salamakis, a cafe owner in Sydney‘s western suburbs, suffered upper arm lacerations and was treated at Westmead Hospital.

Thomson also sustained hand wounds from the same knife and was hospitalized under police guard.

Batchelor stated that Salamakis was shaken by the incident but not physically injured.

Salamakis remained inside her home with visitors coming to comfort her.

Court records indicate that Salamakis had initially obtained an AVO against Thomson in 2021, lasting two years until May 2023.

Another AVO was put in place in June 2023.

A neighbor reported witnessing a man resembling Thomson in the vicinity on multiple nights prior to the alleged stabbing.

The neighbor suggested that Thomson and Salamakis had an “on again off again relationship”.
