LASD in standoff with man who tried to set station on fire

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is in a heated standoff Friday with a man who allegedly entered one of its stations and tried to set it on fire.

The unnamed suspect entered the LASD Century Division station in South Los Angeles with a gas can before his failed arson attempt, CBS News Los Angeles reported.

The man then fled, got into a white Lincoln Navigator and tried to escape.

Authorities chased him down and have since surrounded his car, asking for him to surrender, the station reported.

There is no explanation for the man’s motive.
