King Charles extends invite to Harry, Meghan to annual summer vacation: report

King Charles has kept Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s names on the list of invitees for this year’s royal summer vacation, according to a report.

Each summer, the royal family sets off to Balmoral Castle in Scotland for their annual break.

And despite the Sussexes shutting the door on royal life in 2020, they have not been iced out from family get-togethers in Balmoral, according to the Daily Mail.

“All family members are expected to stay [at Balmoral Castle] at some point over the next few weeks,” Rebecca English writes.

“That is, except the Duke and Duchess of Sussex whose ‘open invitation’ to join family gatherings hasn’t exactly been rescinded, but is certainly not expected to be accepted.”

Tensions had reached an all-time high after Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working members of the Firm.

The decision was followed by a move to Canada, before the pair ultimately settled down in Montecito, California, amid their ongoing quest for “privacy.”

Their move sparked several high-publicity projects such as their six-part Netflix documentary, their bombshell sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, and Harry’s protocol-shattering memoir, “Spare.”

They have only returned to the UK a few times since.

It is believed that Charles is the only senior member of the royal family who maintains contact with the Sussexes.

“If true, that can only be a good thing and may offer a sliver of hope that at some point in the future personal relationships can be rebuilt,” a source told the outlet. “It’s been a very visibly challenging year when it comes to the Sussexes.”

Charles’ relationship with Harry has been massively strained following the release of “Spare” and its accompanying interviews as the duke unleashed several attacks on his family, accusing them of leaking stories to the press, as well as mistreating his wife.

It comes just days after a royal expert said the Sussexes risk “humiliation” if they ever decided to rejoin the royal family in the UK.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returning to the monarchy as working members would be a “bizarre” move considering the damage done.

“This would be one of the most bizarre events in royal history if they did return after all the attacks,” Fitzwilliams said. “It would be a humiliation for Meghan and Harry.”

“The idea that after everything that has happened that Meghan and Harry could just walk back in is beyond extraordinary,” the royal expert added.
