King Charles’ chocolate bust unveiled for coronation

It’s a chocolate creation fit for a king.

A chocolate-making company in the London suburb of Slough has created a life-size bust of King Charles III made from nearly 4 gallons of melted chocolate in honor of the monarch’s coronation on May 6.

The edible artwork bears a striking resemblance to the 76-year-old sovereign, down to his signature coif and unmistakable ears.

Measuring at 63 inches in height, the sugary bust depicts the king in a meticulously decorated military uniform mimicking the one he is expected to wear next week at Westminster Abbey.

It took a team of chocolatiers and model makers from the Slough-based firm Mars Wrigley’s four weeks to sketch and sculpt the scrumptious statuette using 2,875 Celebrations-brand chocolates, BBC News reported.

Additional miniature candy bars of Snickers, Mars, Twix, Milky Ways and Bounty were used to craft the king’s medals, epaulettes and decorative rope adorning the sweet masterpiece, bringing its total weight to a whopping 51 pounds.

Emily Owen, senior brand manager at the confectionary company, said that the team of chocolatiers working on the royal bust spent hours studying footage of Charles to capture his facial features.

The idea was to shape the monarch’s chocolate doppelganger in a way that resembles his profile on the UK’s new stamps and coins.

“We’ve created a majestic sculpture of King Charles III to commemorate his coronation,” said chocolate artist Jennifer Lindsey-Clark, who led the project, according to The Daily Star.

The statuette honoring the historic occasion was commissioned by the confectionery brand Celebrations.

The finished artwork will go in display at the company’s headquarters in Slough.

Charles will be crowned King alongside his wife, Camilla, who will be crowned Queen Consort in London on May 6.
