Kamala Harris hosts Irish PM Leo Varadkar on St. Patricks’s Day

Fresh off a shower of boos at an NCAA Tournament game, Vice President Kamala Harris was back in the spotlight Friday — turning on the charm for Ireland’s prime minister on St. Patrick’s Day.

Harris — accompanied by her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff — was all smiles as she greeted Prime Minister Leo Varadkar and his partner, Matthew Barrett, at the Naval Observatory, where they had breakfast.

She noted the “enduring” relationship between the two countries, adding that it was President Biden who began the tradition of hosting the taoiseach — as Varadkar is known — for breakfast at the vice president’s residence during his tenure as VP.

“This was one of his most particular joys and as you all know, he is quite exuberant in that joy and I now have caught the bug,” Harris said, according to the Pavlovic Today.

Biden is set to host the premier later Friday after the pandemic scuttled the longstanding St. Patrick’s Day meet-up two years in a row.

On Thursday, Harris was roundly booed while attending a March Madness NCAA Tournament game, which her alma mater Howard University lost in a blowout to the top-seeded University of Kansas in the first round.

When she was shown on the video board during the men’s game, the boos reverberated throughout Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

Harris, who watched the game in a suite with her hubby, visited Howard’s locker room after the loss to lavish praise on the players for their effort and impressive season.

“You guys are so good, you guys are so good,” Harris gushed as she met the team and gave them a round of applause. “You played hard, you played to the very last second, you made all us Bisons so, so proud.”

And she poured it on.

“You are smart. You are disciplined. You put everything you had into the game,” Harris said.

“And you know that’s what it’s about, right? Until the last minute, you guys did that, you didn’t stop until the last second, you did not stop, and that is so inspiring. So you keep playing with chin up and shoulders back because you showed the world who Bison are,” she continued.

“You make us so proud, so I know you might not be feeling great right now, OK, but know who you are: You are excellence, you are hard work, you are powerful and you are winners,” Harris added.

The veep was mocked online for the Bronx cheers she was regaled with and the cringeworthy comments she later made to the team.

“Kamala Harris booed at NCAA’s March Madness tournament in Iowa and jinxes her alma mater to boot,” one user said on Twitter.

“Kamala Harris gets booed of out an Iowa arena when they showed her attempting to pander for March Madness,” another said.

A third user wrote: “Vice President Kamala Harris was booed when she was shown on the video board at the Wells Fargo Arena and then ridiculed on social media for her speech to Howard.”
