Joe and Jill Biden take in ‘Oppenheimer’ as Trump indictment drops

WASHINGTON — As yet another indictment of former President Donald Trump was handed up Tuesday evening, President Biden and first lady Jill Biden had their eyes on a different bombshell.

The vacationing first couple opted for a date night, sharing an early dinner before taking in the hit film “Oppenheimer,” during day four of their weeklong escape to Rehoboth Beach, Del.

As the Bidens sat down to their early bird special, special counsel Jack Smith unveiled the third indictment against the 77-year-old Trump in a little over four months.

The president, 80, was not asked to comment on the charges against his former (and potential future) adversary as he left the theater, with reporters instead asking for his thoughts about Christopher Nolan’s opus on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb.

“It was compelling,” Biden said of the three-hour picture.

The president did not answer Wednesday morning when asked for his response to the latest Trump indictment news, ignoring reporters while riding his bike.

The first couple has been in Rehoboth Beach, about 120 miles east of Washington, since July 28 — during which time a pair of seismic political developments have shaken both the president and his chief rival in the 2024 election.

Tuesday’s indictment joins a pair of pending criminal cases against Trump — one a federal case in Florida involving his hoarding of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort, and the other a New York case in which he is accused of falsifying business records to hide hush-money payments.

Meanwhile, former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer told the House Oversight Committee on Monday that the now-first son had been added to the board of Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings because of the Biden “brand.”

Archer said the now-president was looped in on his son’s business meetings via speakerphone at least 20 times.

The Bidens are scheduled to remain in Rehoboth Beach until Friday, when they will return to their home in Wilmington to spend the weekend.
