Jeremy Diaz, 6, to be ‘weaned him off the ventilator’ after neighbor beat him with bat

A six-year-old Texas boy who was pummeled with a bat by his neighbor will be slowly “weaned” off a ventilator as he begins to recover from the ordeal, his family said.

Jeremy Tang Diaz has been in critical condition since Daniel Logan attacked him inside his Georgetown home on Sept. 11, leaving him with brain swelling and multiple skull fractures.

His father, Arthur Diaz, said in an update on GoFundMe that “Jeremy continues to show signs of improvement.”

“As of this morning, he has wrestled control over the functions of his lungs and they are looking to wean him off the ventilator, as it appears he no longer needs it’s support,” he wrote on the fundraiser, which has raised more than $220,000.

“In Jiu Jitsu speak, he rolled with death and subdued it. He rolled for the function of his limbs and won. He has now rolled for control of his lungs, and it appears that he will win that battle too.”

Logan was arrested and charged with injury to a child in the first degree. He was also charged with a first-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member after he allegedly struck his own mother with the bat as well, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities did not release a motive for the horrific attack against the child.

His wife told cops that woke up in the middle of the night to find her husband missing and noticed a hole in the fence and the Diaz family’s backdoor open.

She then saw her mother-in-law walk out of the child’s house covered in blood and screaming “that Daniel was killing everyone inside,” according to the arrest affidavit obtained by the Austin American-Statesman.

Logan’s mother told investigators she followed him into the house and up to the second floor, where she found Jeremy “slumped on the floor of an upstairs bedroom,” authorities said.

When she begged him to stop, he allegedly hit her with the bat.
