Inmates ‘passing out’ in heat wave

It’s apparently hotter than hell in the Texas prison where Josh Duggar is serving his 151-month sentence.

FCI Seagoville in Texas, where the 35-year-old convicted sex offender and former “19 Kids and Counting” star is doing time, reportedly has “no air conditioning” and is resulting in inmates “passing out.”

“Texas is having record-breaking heatwaves. Most of the buildings in Seagoville don’t have air conditioning for the inmates,” a Seagoville inmate’s loved one told the Sun on Wednesday about the all-male prison.

Last week, temperatures in Seagoville were in the 90s and even topped 100 degrees. There is currently an excessive heat warning in effect in the area until Thursday evening.

A spokesperson for Seagoville confirmed to the Sun: “It is true that FCI Seagoville has some housing units without A/C. We do have some with it.”

“In the units without A/C, there are rooms within those units where inmates can sit in A/C, as we have TV and computer rooms that give them a chance to cool down,” the representative claimed. “Additionally in those housing units, we have fans to circulate the air. All housing has ice available to inmates.”

It is not clear whether Duggar himself has experienced complications from the excessive heat.

However, a representative for Seagoville told The Post that the institution does not comment on “conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual” and provided a statement about general conditions for those in custody.

“The well-being of our employees and the incarcerated individuals in our custody is a priority for FCI Seagoville. We remain committed and vigilant to ensure safe conditions are maintained.  There have been no inmate health concerns, including fainting or injuries, contributed to heat conditions,” the statement read. “Supervisors conduct daily temperature checks in the housing units, on all three shifts. All of the offenders have access to either air conditioning or fans, and everyone has access to potable water. In the event there are concerns regarding heat conditions in the housing units, employee offices and/or program areas, implemented procedures will be adhered to immediately.”

The Post has also contacted reps for the Duggar family for comment.

The Sun’s insider claimed Seagoville’s air-conditioned spaces run on generator power.

“The electricity keeps going in and out because the generator is overloaded. When it’s working, it’s relatively cool though,” they alleged.

Duggar was transferred to Seagoville in June 2022 after an Arkansas jury found him guilty on one count of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography during his six-day 2021 trial.

He and his wife, Anna, had seven kids of their own before Duggar was sentenced.

Last month, Amazon Prime Video’s documentary “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” revealed how Duggar’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, hid his disturbing and illegal behavior for years before he was incarcerated.
