I eat pounds of butter and oil daily — people say I’m weird but it calms me

A French woman is raising eyebrows after revealing she indulges in more than 2 pounds of butter and a liter of cooking oil each and every day.

Manon Alias Onboou, 24, has clocked up tens of millions of views on TikTok by showing off the high-fat foods she eats — but not everyone is impressed by her calorific diet.

The TikToker — who also regularly chows down on chocolate and french fries — has been described as “weird” by viewers online, but she says there’s a reason for her food preferences.

In an interview with NeedToKnow.co.uk, Onboou revealed that she is recovering from an eating disorder and says the comfort foods help her fight off panic attacks.

“I started eating butter and chocolate together whenever my eating disorders got worse, because I would simply empty my pantry otherwise,” she explained.

Onboou added that the sickly sweet combination stops her from binge eating other foods.

“Everyone has their own specific little combinations, which are sometimes a little bit weird,” she said of her unusual preferences.

Onboou’s eating habits don’t come cheap.

The blond spends around $500 a month on high-fat foods, with one viral video showing her hefty haul of groceries.

“I will show you my food haul. It’s for four days,” Onboou declares in the clip before she removes 18 blocks of butter from a shopping bag.

The footage also shows her unpacking a half-dozen blocks of white chocolate as well as four bottles of cooking oil.

“I think she meant four months, not four days,” one stunned viewer commented beneath the video.

“I think she meant four lifetimes,” another shot back.

Despite being the subject of ridicule, Onboou says she believes it’s important to keep sharing food content on social media.

“I made the decision to share this online in order to feel less alone with my illness,” she declared.

“Although many people suffer from this, I used to hide myself and feel ashamed, as well as guilty,” the French woman further explained.

“For those who don’t suffer, it allows them to see the living hell some people go through and possibly be more aware of pathological behaviors they could notice from their friends,” she added. “I like showing the reality that the path to recovery is not linear – it doesn’t go from everything to nothing.”

Despite the mental health benefits of sharing her content, it may be imprudent for Onboou to continue her current eating habits for a long period of time.

Nutritionists have previously recommended no more than 28 grams of butter (2 tablespoons) per day, meaning Onboou indulges in almost 20 times the advised intake.

Butter is high in calories, so Onboou consumes a whopping 4,000 calories of the dairy product per day.

Excess consumption of butter and other fats are thought to lead to obesity, hypertension, heart disease and cancer.
