I didn’t know I was pregnant until I saw a foot sticking out of me

This teen mom’s pregnancy started out on the wrong foot. 

Faye White, 19, from Braintree, Essex, England, claims he had no idea she was pregnant — until her newborn daughter quite literally stepped out of her womb, Kennedy News reported.

White, who gave birth to her daughter Luna-Grace Behrens on May 6, even chalked up her water-breaking to a urinary tract infection, before the baby shoved her way out.

“I did about six pregnancy tests over the nine months and they were all negative,” said White, who confessed that she and her partner of four years, Aidan Behrens, 21, do not regularly use contraception — opting for the risky “pull-out” method. “I knew there was an element of risk.”

White, who has a 2-year-old son, Brody-Chase, and who lost another baby at 18 weeks, said this pregnancy was nothing like her others.

The mom explained that her menstruation cycle had been normal leading up to labor and had no visible baby bump. She recognized symptoms of mild acid reflux, which is common during pregnancy, but it failed to raise any flags.

“Life was very average until I woke up one morning to a giant gush of water,” she said.

White, having given birth before, knew she was giving birth once her contractions started. She said she was “in shock” and “confused,” and frantically called her mother-in-law to take her to the hospital.

“I went to the toilet because I felt this really bad pressure and there was something coming out. I waddled back into my bedroom and it turned out it was her foot. I ended up calling an ambulance,” she recalled.

“It had literally plopped out. I was in full-blown labor. From the moment of my waters breaking to having her was two hours, it was so quick.”

White was rushed to a location where a helicopter was meant to pick her up and take her to a nearby hospital. But her baby arrived sooner than expected, in the back of an ambulance next to a football field. 

“I had to deliver her in breech,” said White, who had to make do with the oxygen and nitrous oxide gas in the ambulance, a weaker variety than what is provided at the hospital. “I was begging for morphine most of the time.”

Despite confessing that she had no interest in having more children, White said her “maternal instinct” kicked in immediately: “From the minute I knew she was coming, I knew what was happening and I thought, ‘Okay that’s our child, let’s get everything sorted.’ I was thinking about her. I just wanted to see her and make sure she’s okay.”

Baby Luna was born at 37 weeks old, weighing six pounds. She was rushed to a neonatal intensive care unit at Broomfield Hospital due to birth complications from the agonizing nine-minute breech, which left her with mild hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).

“It’s hard to know how that’ll affect her, it can develop further down the line,” said White.

White took her baby home 10 days later. Her friends helped her stock her home with items for her daughter. The hospital gave her free diapers.

“[Adapting to life] was really easy at first. You have one and life is crazy because you’re not used to having kids, you have two and it’s not that different,” she said. 

She believes her baby’s surprise birth is a miracle. 

“She defied the odds. What she’s gone through, she’s doing brilliantly. Now I can’t imagine life without her. I like my life hectic, and she definitely keeps it hectic.”

And after this pregnancy, White insists she’s done having kids for good. 

“I was in the back of the ambulance asking them to take my womb out. I am done. I am currently having a blood test done to go on contraception.”
