Harrowing video shows moment NYC road-rage driver fatally plowed into construction worker

Dramatic video footage shows the moment a driver fatally mowed down a construction worker on the Upper East Side — sending him flying through the glass storefront of a cafe during a crazed road rage feud.

Roberto Velez Alvarez, 54, of Long Island, is seen standing on the street outside Cafe Oxford on East 60th Street between Park and Third avenues before a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Andre Mosby, 26, suddenly slams into him at 3:56 p.m. on Wednesday.

The stunning impact threw Alvarez through the restaurant’s front windows, shattering the glass and causing onlookers to scream in distress, according to surveillance footage shot from inside the restaurant.

Alvarez is then shown laying in a heap of glass shards on the sidewalk outside as Mosby steps out of the car.

The deadly encounter — which led to Mosby’s arrest on manslaughter charges Thursday — came during a heated clash between the two drivers, according to police.

The fight broke out after Mosby, of Pennsylvania, tapped the back of Alvarez’s 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with his car, according to police.

Furious, Alvarez allegedly slashed Mosby’s tires — prompting Mosby to hit the gas and plow into him, cops said.

Mosby told later cops that he only meant to disarm the other motorist and protect his family, claiming his foot “slipped” off the brake and onto the gas pedal.

He said Alvarez’s truck veered into the driver-side mirror of his Jetta and scraped the passenger side of his car. Alvarez then blocked him in and started berating him, he told cops.

Alvarez’s wife, Alex Garcia,  responded with disbelief that Alvarez, who she described as a calm and caring father, would be capable of slashing Mosby’s tires.

“My husband is not going to hurt people,” she told The Post. “This does not make any sense.”

Mosby has two prior arrests for fare evasion and robbery, and is due in court Friday.
