French skier Les Powtos Swiss Alps fall captured on GoPro

A French skier’s terrifying fall in the Alps was captured by his GoPro and has gone viral.

Although he is an experienced skier, Les Powtos stumbled upon a deceptive circle of snow, which caved into a massive crevasse, causing him to plummet into a dark, icy chute.

The 36-year-old wedged his skis into the sides of the glacier as he slid through ice and snow, slowing his descent and ultimately coming to a stop.

Powtos posted the harrowing video on his Instagram page with the caption “Surprise!”

He explained to followers that he made it out with ice cleats and rope given to him by friends, Fox News reported.

The accident happened on the Meije mountain, located in Hautes-Alpes, France, known for its backcountry and extreme skiing.
