Florida teen Madison Schemitz’s mom reported daughter’s ex before attack

The mother of a Florida high school softball star who was left paralyzed after allegedly being stabbed 15 times by her ex-boyfriend had reportedly filed a harassment complaint about him just days before the ghastly attack.

Jacki Rogé reported Spencer Ross Pearson, 18, to police on May 29, claiming he had “started acting strange” toward her daughter, Madison Schemitz, 17, WLTV reported.

Rogé said Schemitz told her a few months earlier that her former boyfriend had been following her on her way to school, left notes on her car and was harassing her on social media.

Schemitz had reportedly blocked Pearson on social media, but her mother alleged that he created fake accounts so he could keep messaging her.

Rogé also claimed Pearson had been struggling with mental health and made suicidal statements – and told police that when she informed his mother about the matter, she said “she would handle it accordingly,” WLTV reported.

Schemitz, a rising senior at Ponte Vedra High School, was at Mr. Chubby’s Wings with her mom and friend Casey Estep on June 3 when they spotted her ex-boyfriend, Pearson.

When the group left the eatery and began walking to their car, Pearson charged at Schemitz, authorities said.

Pearson allegedly held Schemitz with one arm and stabbed her about 15 times before attacking Roge, slashing her in the forehead and leg, according to a warrant.

Kennedy Armstrong, 23, a bystander who intervened, also was stabbed before the suspect turned the knife on himself in an attempt to kill himself, authorities said.

Pearson was charged with two counts of attempted premeditated murder and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing permanent disability.

Schemitz’ss older sister said the two have been broken up for a few months.

“There were some issues in the past after they’d broken up, where he was threatening her safety. My mother was looking to get a restraining order against him, so this was definitely premeditated,” Tatiana Cruceta told the station.

She said her sister has been left paralyzed after suffering damage to her spinal cord.

“Madison is a fighter, you know. She’s going to make it through this, and I know she is going to walk out of this hospital,” she added.
