Expert in Madeleine McCann case doubts claim by Julia Faustyna

A private detective tied to the Madeleine McCann case cast doubt on a Polish woman’s sensational claims that she is the kidnapped British toddler — just days after reports surfaced that the tot’s desperate parents had agreed to a DNA test.

“Without knowing the details in depth, it does not add up to me,” investigator Francisco Marco told the Spanish newspaper El Independiente this week of the allegations leveled by Julia Faustyna, who went viral after she started posting on social media under the handle @iammadeleinemccann.

Marco is the owner of Metodo 3, the private detective agency hired by Kate and Gerry McCann when Madeleine, 3, vanished from the family’s rented vacation apartment in Praia de Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007.

“I don’t think it’s her,” he said of Faustyna, 21, who updated her Instagram bio this week to announce that the McCanns had reportedly agreed to a genetic test to prove her identity.

Faustyna, who also goes by Julia Wendell, claims she was adopted at a young age and had very few childhood memories. Based on her past experiences with abuse and alleged physical similarities between herself, Madeleine and the McCann parents, she believes she is the missing girl.

“I need to know the truth. I need [a] dna test and I need to talk with Madeleine’s parents. Help me!” she wrote in one Instagram post.

In another update, Faustyna shared the police sketch of the man whom multiple witnesses saw carrying a child in the Praia de Luz resort the night Madeleine disappeared.

“I recognise this person..it looks very similar to my abbuser [sic],” she wrote.

Madeleine was famously last seen sleeping with her younger twin siblings while her parents and their friends dined at a tapas restaurant nearby. When Kate McCann returned to check on her children around 10 p.m., she found the bedroom door and window open and Madeleine gone.

While questions swirled for years that Kate and Gerry had killed their daughter and disposed of her body, authorities eventually concluded that Madeleine was possibly kidnapped by German sexual offender Christian Bruekner, who was a handyman at the resort.

News that the McCanns were potentially pursuing Faustyna’s sensational claims, however, came alongside mounting concerns about the young woman’s mental health.

In a video update to Faustyna’s Instagram profile, spokesperson Dr. Fia Johansson, also known as “Persian Medium,” shared that her client’s background was “challenging and messy” and that her mental state was “not good.”

“[Julia] needs help,” Johansson admitted.
