Driver, 78, crashes car into Louisiana businesses: video

Wild video shows an elderly motorist repeatedly crashing his car into Louisiana businesses before racing away in a panic.

The unidentified 78-year-old man was trying to park for an appointment at Babin Physical Therapy in Kenner Tuesday when he suddenly sped forward and damaged a column, police told WDSU.

A bystander then filmed as he jumped a curb and turned around — speeding backward straight into the adjoining Optical shop.

“Looks like a bomb went off in the place but it was actually a little small car that destroyed the place,” Boover said.

“Looks like a bomb went off in the place but it was actually a little small car that destroyed the place,” store owner Robert Boover told the outlet amid the destruction.

The footage showed the badly damaged white sedan speeding away with its front bumper missing and the rear one barely hanging on.

“Obviously he panicked, so it would’ve been nice if he would’ve stayed but Kenner police caught him,” Boover said. “I think he just panicked.”

Damaged car fleeing the scene
Police say they were able to stop the man once he tried to drive forward and leave the parking lot.
