Dozens of arrested for breaching Biden’s Delaware campaign HQ

Nearly two dozen lefty activists were arrested Monday for breaching President Biden’s Delaware campaign headquarters in protest of his policies on the climate and Israel-Hamas war.

“Young people won’t support a President who flip flops on climate action and who funds genocide,” Sunrise Movement, the group behind the demonstration, warned in an X post

The 21 “adult subjects” who were arrested out of around 100 protesters that gathered outside the Biden campaign office will be charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Those arrested made their way up to the eighth floor of the Brandywine Building in downtown Wilmington, which houses the 81-year-old president’s campaign re-election headquarters, and refused police orders to leave.

Protesters continued to wave signs reading, “Fund climate, not genocide” after the arrests of those “sitting in” on the Biden campaign’s operations center.

“Young people are sitting in because Biden needs to lead and deliver, or he’s going to lose,” read a tweet from the Sunrise Movement.

The group also accused the president of going “back on his campaign promise to not drill on public lands” for approving ConocoPhillips’ $8 billion Willow Project.

The energy giant claims the massive Alaskan oil and gas extraction project could produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil a day and create as many as 1,800 jobs during construction and 300 long-term jobs while generating billions of dollars in royalties and tax revenues for Alaska and the federal government.

“Biden can’t build renewables on Monday, build fossil fuels on Tuesday, and then claim to be climate president,” the Sunrise Movement argued. “That’s not how science works, and young voters know it.”

Biden campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt defended the president’s handling of the climate, arguing that Biden “secured the single largest climate investment in history, which puts the US on a path to cut climate pollution in half by 2030.

“President Biden is working hard to finish the job, while Donald Trump has promised to undo all the progress we’ve made,” Hitt told The Post. “As president, Trump called climate change a ‘hoax’ and slashed critical environmental protections.”

On the Israel-Hamas war, Hitt pointed to Biden’s remarks during a Feb. 8 press briefing, where he expressed that Israel’s response in Gaza “has been over the top.”

Last month, a USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll showed Biden hemorrhaging support from young voters, a traditionally strong Democratic voting bloc.

More voters under 35 support former President Donald Trump than Biden – 37% to 33% – the poll found.

Biden won the demographic in the 2020 election by 24 points over Trump.
