DOJ indicted Hunter Biden to protect Joe, Rep. Jim Jordan says

House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan branded Hunter Biden’s indictment on gun charges as a Department of Justice smokescreen to avoid scrutiny of President Biden’s involvement in his son’s alleged influence-peddling.

“At some point, they were like, ‘Well, we’ve got to do something and let’s do this. Let’s indict him on the gun charge, which has nothing to do with President Biden,’” Jordan told the Washington Examiner Saturday.

“It’s the one thing that has nothing to do with the whole business operation and the links, that seem pretty obvious to most people, to the president,” Jordan added.

Hunter Biden was indicted Thursday in Delaware by special counsel David Weiss on three counts related to lying about his drug use on a gun purchase form in 2018 — two months after his probation-only plea deal was thrown out by a federal judge.

On Tuesday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched an impeachment inquiry into the president’s conduct after the House Oversight Committee uncovered evidence that more than $20 million flowed to Biden family businesses from China, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine — much of it while Biden was vice president.

“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption,” McCarthy said. “The American people deserve to know that the public offices are not for sale and that the federal government is not being used to cover up the actions of a politically associated family.”

Biden has repeatedly claimed he never spoke with his son Hunter or his brother James Biden about their foreign business deals.
