Dad found dead after White Sulphur Springs LIV golf event

A West Virginia father of two young kids has been found dead two days after he went missing from the LIV Golf tournament.

Jarred David Shultz, 39, was reported missing by a friend who last saw him late Saturday at the two-day event in White Sulphur Springs, Lewisburg Police announced Monday.

His body was found that afternoon — less than an hour after the last online police appeal — in a wooded area off a highway close to a number of hotels, the department said in a social media update.

“There is no foul play suspected in this incident at this time,” Chief Chris Teubert said, without elaborating on the likely cause of death.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Shultz’s family and friends in this very difficult time.”

Schultz, of Barboursville, was attending the golf event at the exclusive Greenbrier resort when he was last seen near the Brier Patch Bar & Grill around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Golf Digest reported.

He was reported missing by a friend just after 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Police said they used “phone pings, blood hound (sic), ground searches, thermal imaging, surveillance footage reviews and drones for aerial searches.”

Schultz’s wife, Lauren Schultz, had also posted on Facebook appealing for information about his whereabouts.

Shortly before Schultz’s body was discovered on Monday, Lauren updated her Facebook profile photo to a smiling shot of the couple with their two young children.
