Cristiano Ronaldo on verge of stunning transfer to Man City

Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of a big move of his own as the summer transfer window continues to pack big-time twists in the soccer world.

Ronaldo and Manchester City are close to an agreement, ESPN reported Thursday, which would bring one of the best players of all-time back to the Premier League.

Ronaldo previously spent six seasons starring for Manchester United. The stunning development comes less than a month after Lionel Messi left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

The transfer is not completed, according to the report, and would hinge upon Man City and Juventus, Ronaldo’s current club, agreeing upon a price for the move. ESPN said the Serie A club would want about $33 million for the transaction to go through.

Still, the recruitment is on, and Man City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly talked with Ronaldo on the phone Thursday morning. Man City is trying to replace striker Sergio Aguero, who joined Barcelona.

Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, did not start in Juventus’ opener on Sunday and was a second-half sub in the draw with Udinese.

The Portuguese star has scored 101 goals in 134 appearances for Juventus since arriving from Real Madrid in 2018.
