Chris Christie ready to hunt down Trump after ex-president skipped GOP debate: ‘I’ll find him’

Donald Trump attack dog Chris Christie has vowed to hunt down the former president if needed in the run-up to the 2024 election.

“I’ll find him,” Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, told Fox News.

Christie has long craved for a showdown with his onetime friend, but Trump deprived him of such glory by skipping the first 2024 GOP debate in Milwaukee last month.

The 61-year-old kept his cards close to the vest, refraining from spilling details about how he plans to track down the 77-year-old former commander in chief, who is guarded by Secret Service.

“Watch me,” Christie replied when pressed for specifics.

“You think I’m going to have a hard time finding Donald Trump? You think over the course of the next couple months, I’m not going to find him and confront him someplace?”

Back in the 2016 cycle, Christie had a moment of fame during a verbal bout with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and has been chomping at the bit to burnish his debate skills against Trump.

Christie befriended Trump in the early 2000s while serving as the US attorney for the District of New Jersey.

After dropping out of the 2016 GOP presidential primary, Christie endorsed Trump and helmed his transition team.

But in the time since, the two have soured on each other, with Christie billing his campaign as a crusade to bulldoze through Trump in the Republican primary.

Christie cited his time as a prosecutor and underscored his ability to find people.

He also declined to specify if he intends to show up at an event and surprise Trump.

Over the weekend on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz,” Christie indicated that if Trump continues to forgo the GOP debates, he will begin to follow him

“Wherever he goes, I’ll go. And we’ll wind up talking to each other one way or another,” Christie vowed.

The next GOP debate is slated for Sept. 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. A third debate is expected in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, though details are sparse.

Christie is polling in sixth place among the 2024 GOP pack with 3.6% support nationally, while Trump is far ahead in first with 53.6%, per the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate.
