Cause of death revealed for Florida tot Taylen Mosley

The Florida toddler who was discovered inside the mouth of an alligator last month died by drowning following the brutal murder of his mother, a medical examiner has concluded.

St. Petersburg Police Department announced Monday that an autopsy by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner determined that 2-year-old Taylen Mosley had drowned, according to the station WTSP.

The boy’s mom, 20-year-old Pashun Jeffrey, was found stabbed more than 100 times in the bathroom of her Lincoln Shores apartment on March 30 and her son was reported missing.

A frantic search for Taylen came to a tragic conclusion the next day, when police officers spotted his body in the maw of an alligator in Lake Maggiore, located not far from his home.

A cop fired a round at the reptile, causing it to drop the body.

“We are sorry that it had to end this way,” police Chief Anthony Holloway said at the time.

The tot’s father, 21-year-old Thomas Mosley, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his son and Jeffrey.

The suspect last appeared before a judge Tuesday for a hearing about whether prosecutors will be allowed to obtain Mosley’s medical records from a hospital where he sought treatment for severe lacerations to his arms, reported the station Fox 13.

Another status hearing in the case is scheduled for May 5. Mosley is being held in jail without bond.

According to an affidavit, a bloody fingerprint on a cleaning bottle and a bloody Gucci shoeprint inside Jeffrey’s apartment linked Mosley to the crime scene.

Investigators said Mosley stabbed Jeffrey just hours after she threw a party to celebrate his 21st birthday.

He then allegedly grabbed his young son, took him to the alligator-infested Lake Maggiore and either placed or threw the tot in the water.

No motive has been revealed in the killings of the mom and son.
