Biden makes bizarre remark to kids at ice cream social: ‘Daddy owes you’

He made it awkward with one fell scoop.

President Biden raised eyebrows Wednesday when he invited children to join him on an ice cream run, telling the youngsters that “daddy owes you.”

“I want to say one thing to your children. I know some really great ice cream places around here and daddy owes you, so talk to me afterwards,” Biden, 80, told a packed crowd in the East Room of the White House, according to a clip shared on Twitter by RNC Research.

The seemingly off-script remark came during the octogenarian’s speech marking the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The moment quickly made the rounds on social media, where Sen Ted Cruz (R-Texas) captioned a clip of Biden’s comment with “#StrangerDanger.”

“Exactly how hard is it for Joe Biden to NOT be a complete creep around kids??” Canary CEO Dan K. Eberhart chimed in.

“Apparently, pretty hard,” one followed responded.

Wednesday’s gaffe was not the first time the commander-in-chief referenced ice cream at a formal occasion.

In March, Biden opened his first remarks following the Nashville school shooting with a bizarre ice cream reference.

“My name is Joe Biden. I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband. And I eat Jeni’s ice cream — chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream,” he joked at an East Room gathering of women-owned businesses.

The president then pivoted to a more serious tone, and called the massacre at the Covenant School that left three students and three staff members dead “sick” and “a family’s worst nightmare.”

Biden has been criticized in the past for his perceived “off-color” comments, which are often directed at young people.

In October 2022, he made headlines by telling a young California teen “no serious guys until you’re 30.”

Also last year, Biden failed to keep his cool during an address at the National Education Association, country’s largest teacher’s union, FOX News Digital said.

In the middle of his speech, Biden indicated to a woman and said “we go back a long way.”

“She was 12 and I was 30, but anyway. This woman helped me get an awful lot done. Anyway.”

Earlier this summer, The Washingtonian published a timeline of all the ice cream stores Biden has visited since he was sworn into office three years ago.
