A scandal at a prestigious Queensland school has rocked parents, with the Catholic institution temporarily standing down two teachers and launching an investigation.

Two teachers at one of the most prestigious Catholic schools in Queensland have been suspended after allegedly being caught in a compromising position by students in a classroom.

The respected male and female teachers have been suspended from their roles at Aquinas College at Southport, Gold Coast, after the alleged incident on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Brisbane Catholic Education Office told news.com.au an “allegation had been made about the behavior of two staff members while on school grounds”.

“This matter is currently being investigated by Brisbane Catholic Education.”

The school boasts high-profile alumni including Palaszczuk, government minister Meaghan Scanlon, former Miss Universe Australia Jesinta Campbell, Olympic shooter Annemarie Forder and former Maroon Bob Lindner.

International conman Peter Foster also is a former alumnus.

Parents, quoted in The Courier Mail said there had been little communication from the school on the incident before media inquiries.

“What has (allegedly) happened is shocking enough, let alone at a Catholic school,” one said.

“ Parents want to know what action the school is taking against these two individuals.”
