The kidnappers also remain unidentified.

Dorsainvil and her young daughter were taken by armed gunmen from the El Roi clinic outside Port-au-Prince on July 27.

Negotiations to free the pair began shortly after the abduction, a Haitian law enforcement source told ABC News.

Dorsainvil, who is originally from New Hampshire, is married to the director of El Roi, the organization said.

She has been working in the community as a nurse for “some time now,” the group added.

On the day of Dorsainvil’s kidnapping, the US government issued a travel advisory warning prospective visitors to avoid Haiti due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.

”Clinic patient Lormina Louima previously told reporters of the terrifying kidnapping, which she said occurred armed when a number of armed men stormed the small building.

“When I saw the gun, I was so scared,” she recalled.

Some community members claimed that the kidnappers asked for a $1 million ransom, though these reports remain unconfirmed.
