20 rattlesnakes plucked out of Arizona garage, including 15 babies

An Arizona homeowner received the shock of a lifetime when he found out he had 20 rattlesnakes — including 15 baby serpents — slithering around in his garage

Snake wrangler Marissa Maki arrived at a home in Mesa on Tuesday after the homeowner called for help about three snakes supposedly taking refuge in his garage.

Chilling footage shows the moment Maki locates the snakes around the home’s heater, only to find more than a dozen other serpents trying to avoid her.

“That is a lot of snakes. I’m not going to lie,” Maki tells the homeowner in disbelief. “This is crazy.”

As she plucks the babies one by one out of the garage, the wrangler could still be heard surprised over the absurd number of snakes.

“That’s a lot of babies,” she says, summing up a total of 20 snakes and she and the homeowner shared a nervous laugh.

Maki added that after finding some shed skin in the garage, it was possible that even more snakes were living near the heater and left as the others waited to do the same.

She also noted that one of the adult serpents caught was pregnant, so the homeowner would have had even more snakes on his hands had he waited to call her company.

Much to the homeowner’s chagrin, Maki told him that it was likely the snakes have been to his garage before as a safe haven to give birth at.

“This might be the most snakes I’ve ever gotten in one call,” Maki remarked.

“Oh great, I’m so glad to have set a record for you,” the homeowner joked nervously.

Rattlesnake Solutions has confirmed that Tuesday’s haul was the firm’s record for most snakes collected over a single call.

The snakes that were gathered were identified as western diamondback rattlesnakes, some of the most common rattlesnakes found slithering in the Southwest and Mexico. The snakes can grow as long as six feet.

The five adult rattlesnakes and 15 babies have since been released to their natural habitat in the desert, with footage showing Maki counting and releasing the serpents into a safe burrow.
