Miami-Dade cop Andres Perez threw cheeseburger at wife, punched her: police

A Miami-Dade police officer was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly hurled a McDonald’s cheeseburger at his wife and punched her in the head, authorities said.

Andres Perez, 34, and his wife were arguing about finances and infidelity issues at the couple’s home in Miramar in Broward County when the argument turned physical, according to a police report obtained by WPLG.

Police responded to the house around 6 p.m., and Perez’s wife told officers that he stormed into the kitchen and threw the burger at her before punching her behind her right ear.

The cop was arrested and charged with battery.

The couple has been together for eight years and married for three years. They share children together, according to the report.

“It is disheartening to learn that one of my officers was arrested for a domestic violence incident, that occurred while he was off duty,” Miami-Dade Police Interim Director Stephanie Daniels told the outlet in a statement.

“Police officers are held to a higher standard; this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Any actions that may hinder the public’s confidence in law enforcement is unacceptable,” she added.

The department would not confirm whether or not Perez had been disciplined or terminated as a result of the incident.
