More women reported encounters with Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann

More sex workers have come forward to report that they had contact with accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann, according to the Suffolk County sheriff.

Sheriff Errol Toulon said investigators are now vetting the reports as they continue to investigate the Heuermann.

“My staff is really going to vet these additional females to see if they actually did come in contact with him and then see what that contact was and see if that can lead us in any other possible direction,” Toulon told WCBS.

He also revealed that Heuermann, 59, can now get recreation time alone, make phone calls and receive mail.

The hulking architect was arrested July 13 outside his Midtown office and charged with murder in the deaths of three women whose bodies were found on Gilgo Beach in December 2010 — Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello and Melissa Barthelemy.

Heuermann remains the prime suspect in the death of a fourth victim, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, with the slain women known collectively as the “Gilgo Four.”

Authorities have said they worked as escorts before they disappeared. A total of 11 bodies were found between 2010 and 2011 in roughly the same area of the beach.

Investigators have seized dozens of guns and other items from Heuermann’s ramshackle Massapequa Park home and are analyzing them as evidence potentially linking him to other victims.

It’s still unclear whether Heuermann killed any of his victims in the home, where he lived with his wife and adult daughter and stepson, authorities said.

His wife, Asa Ellerup, who officials said was “embarrassed” and “disgusted” after her husband’s arrest, has since filed for divorce.

Heuermann has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
